Today, as I unwrap a new bar of soap to prepare me for the day ahead, clumsy as always, I dropped the thing into the toilet bowl! I stopped to think, bent over and reached for my slimy bar. Immediately, I ran it through running waters and went on washing myself with it.
An hour later, I came out of the bathroom smelling fresh and clean! I think we are like that bar of soap... We may not be perfect, we may be dented and stained - but those we get in contact with feel so much better. Because whatever we go through, I know that today, we are a lot better than yesterday!

Burger Time!
I've searched for the true meaning of what a burger is and here's what I found - a hot sandwich.
Not all burgers I've tried are hot so I looked for more...
Wikipedia
A hamburger (also known as simply a burger) is a sandwich consisting of a cooked patty of ground meat (usually beef, but occasionally pork or a combination of meats) usually placed inside a sliced bread roll.
I thank the genius who came up with the idea of replacing the bread roll with hash browns -truly innovative. So what's my take on this twist?
Three on a scale of 5 |
- Presentation please! It's packaged in a thin box so I immediately thought of ordering something else the moment it was served. Good thing I didn't -keep in mind they're made of potatoes so they're heavier on your tummy than a normal burger would.
- I'm not sure but something is definitely amiss. I enjoy my burgers with fries on the side. I take time nibbling on the fries while busying myself with whoever I'm with. Now if my burgers are served with potatoes in place of the buns, maybe I should have tossed salad on the side?
- I miss the burger buns. I grew up picking on the sesame seeds, buns these days no longer have them, but at least I had the bread. Replacing it with a greasy slab of potato is a welcome change but not something I'm hoping to come back for. Oh! And I know that they're baked to help me think it's a little healthier and I love the crusty burnt sides but you'll still see oil all.
- A thicker patty might work. For me, the star of the burger should be the patty, not the stuff it's sandwiched with. In this case, the hash browns are tastier than the beef patty. Maybe they should call it a "Double Hash Browned Patty".

Missed it!
For someone who has thought of writing as his passion, it is surprising to note that it has been more than a month since my last entry! And there's no excuse, I just didn't have enough motivation to sit still and type my thoughts away. I didn't have the inspiration. Simply put, I was lost.
When I was young, I got lost in the mall. My mom was busy shopping for stuff and just like in the fantasy world of Narnia, I got lost in a world behind the curtains of fabric!
I recall running along rows of racks and chasing through the playfully swinging clothes. And then I realized that I was enclosed in shelves and surrounded by strangers. My savior was a fine saleslady who brought me to customer service where, with the ever powerful microphone, they called forth my Mom. That night, I went home with twink -and no, it's not the twink you have in mind, he's the character from Rainbow Brite!
I am very lucky being surrounded by good people who love and care deeply. Although not necessary, a support system helps. Family and friends got me through to where I am and for that, I am truly grateful. Yet, no matter how strong my support system may be, I still had to search for my path and find the courage to walk through it.
In sophomore year, I wanted to drop out and just start working. Thinking - if working is what I'd be doing, why not start early as now? Funny but back then, it was a strong urge - I wonder what was I was in a hurry for? They say we go through school so we can find a good job later on. So what's next after getting one? I guess an average person would say -raise a family, nurture them, get old and die. How about people like us leading an alternative lifestyle? It's been 6 years since I've started with my company and I am just here all along. I drift to work everyday, not looking up to someone truly worthy, not leading to a goal and not heading for a destination -until I met with my high school friends.
I know I'm not alone in this, but attending a high school reunion sends bolts of lightning to places you never knew existed! Depressing at it may be, the kids I grew up with tickled my fancy to actually take ownership of me.
Achieving goals, as in medicine - prevention is always better than cure. I may not exactly be a life coach, but allow me share some tips I am working on to help me get better.
Always Pause to Smell the Flowers.
Create a task map and lay tiny goal posts along the way. Applying what I've learned, these would have to be SMACT! Set Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Challenging and Timely. Don't forget that when you reach each point -celebrate the smallest of victories!
Review.
In each goal post - pause, look back, ponder and think ahead. There are times when things don't fall as planned and sometimes, they're even better than what we hoped for. These calls for us to go back to the drawing board and rethink our goals. Check on things we can do better, adjust goal points when needed and make sure to keep moving forward.
Sharpen the Saw.
We all know the story of the woodcutter. Take the time to develop and improve. Nobody can keep working all day, we all need to pause to take a breather and recharge. Keep your body fine tuned, make sure your love buckets are full, learn something new everyday and never forget to say your graces. Find better ways and better things to help you get through.
Start over.
So what do you do when you reach the end? It's not another dead end where you can sit still forever. Just like schooling, it's not the certificate that counts, it's what you learn everyday that counts! Life is a cycle, start over!

Set Goals and Prioritize.
A map is of no use if you don't know where you are and you don't know where you're going. Know what you really want, set your goals and never lose eye on it. A vision board helps me to be more optimistic. I cut out images that remind me of my goals and they keep me on track. There will be conflicts along the way and knowing your priorities will help you decide.

Promise not to write anything this long again...

Expelliarmus!
I have read all seven books and followed all seven movies and now it all ends...
It is fascinating to see how we all grew with these children. It always feel like a gift that they'd release the movie during the holiday season. Each year, we were looking forward to taking a peek and getting enchanted by Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Every time, I was one of those who reread at least a week before the show-date just so I'd know exactly what to expect from the movie - but not this year. I wanted to be one with the rest. Although I was looking forward to how they'd feature Harry, Ron and Hermione 19 years after, I didnt have the details in mind. I'd remember them only moments before the scene and the experience was exhilarating! Although I would not suggest it as a 3D film, this last flick is definitely not be missed.
Instead of a movie review, I'll have a list of my fondest thoughts and memories from and about the franchise. Knowing how capable my memory is, this presents quite a challenge. hehe!
1. Although it looks different now, my school breaks were spent trying out magic wands and putting the sorting hat on by frequently visiting their site:
http://harrypotter.scholastic.com
2. Cedric Diggory died in the Triwizard Tournament but Robert Pattinson resurrected as the most beautiful blood sucker in Twilight.
3. The Potter-inspired 2008 Halloween Party at the office. I've come up with the wall and the dementors and I remember that it won an award! Buti na lang it paid off kasi I remember my friend Cha having to carry on a ton of black robes that went as part of props for everybody.
4. Since the Prisoner of Azkaban, I've always loved Bellatrix Lestrange - she was nutty explosive to her final duel!
Against a mother's love beating the most cruel of the dark lord's generals. Moments before her death, you'd hear Molly Weasley with my favorite line: "Not my daughter! You bitch... You will never touch our children again!"
5. I know my taste in men has always been odd, but between the main characters, I like Rupert Grint more than Daniel Radcliffe...
6. Of all Hogwarts classes, I'm most definitely interested in transfiguration, I'd love to be an animagus! Just thinking about conducting my calibration sessions or new hire presentations in a tiger's form is enough to make me smile...
7. From the clumsy freshman who always loses his toad Trevor, I never realized how well they've developed Neville Longbottom's character. Stand up and fight and drama ng lolo! I just wish he'd mature into something more papa-ble. Just look at his picture and you'd know he has potential...
And finally, I love the movie because it also echoes the life-long shout out ng mga becky.
Mark 12:28
"Love your neighbor as you love yourself".
Compensation and freedom of the house elves, respect goblin rights, equal treatment for muggles, equal rights for the LGBT!
haha! isingit daw ba ang pangsariling advocacy sa Harry Potter? But seriously, that's what it all means to me. Learning to accept those around us and treating them nicely kahit hindi mo sila kauri...

Me and My Big Mouth
Looking back, it would seem that the previous week was a test of character. Making me conscious of the way I run my personal relationships. And I've realized that lately, I have been in conflict with many others.
I remember refusing to take part in meals and treats just because it comes from an undesirable source. It sure took effort to remain calm and give opinion only when asked for.
There was also a time when I was sharing too much of my thoughts because I felt it was right. Then I had to restrain myself to great discomfort because what I had to say was no longer as welcome as it should have been.
More recently, I recall restricting myself against what I truly feel and and end up being an ill-tempered biatch. Shallow as it was, the fruit of it proved to be the most bitter loss of all.
During heated arguments, I step back, think things through and get back only when all sides have been considered. I am one who consults people, lists the pros & cons to visualize stuff and gathers inputs to get a clear perspective on things. Being a strong believer that things should be planned before being acted upon, it surprised even me that last Thursday, sorry but I babbled earlier than I should have.
Let's all look on the brighter side and hope to make things better.

You didn't betray us, you betrayed yourself!
Transformers, Dark of the Moon is an explosive feel good movie. I think by now, everyone has seen the movie and judging from the reaction of those around me, you will like it.
Being a fan of the Victoria Secret Angels, I am all smiles for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who did not fail to deliver sultry in a highly sophisticated way. With her she brought long legs, full lips, luscious hair and an inspiring body -men will surely ogle their eyes out at this english super model. They say her acting is bad? Which part of the movie required her to act anyway? Is it the part when she was mad that Sam couldn't attend her event? Well, angels aren't supposed to be angry, buti nga nalaman nyo yung emosyon para sa eksena, that means she acted it well! hehe...
Then napai-sip din ako whether I like Sentinel Prime or not... Should I hate him just because he didn't side with the humans or should I like him kasi he is very human? Just think of how many other species suffer and die just so we survive. Paano kung ganuon ang gawin ng mga robot na yun sa human race, would that be acceptable? But I guess that's a different topic... haha! Going back to the movie...

Makakalimutin naman talaga ako and I might be partly to blame for it but thinking of what the movie left me with, I end up with a list of toys for the big boys. The cinematic effects were great but the storyline wasn't as good... Kahit nga naramdaman ko kung gaano kahirap maghanap ng magandang trabaho, hindi pa rin ako naka-relate kay Sam Witwicky! All I have are images of a sad office run by a likely real boss, high-end cars with which I am not familiar, then there's action, explosion and more bog! sabog! kabog! I didn't even see the body of Josh Duhamel! Michael Bay, you didn't bother to think about the ladies who are watching your movie too, did you? Tapos pinatay nyo pa yung favorite kong transformer... Haaay... ang sama mo! hehe!
I've followed all three films and I'd like to say that the third installment is my least favorite then I stop to think, sa dami ng reklamo ko, what am I smiling about? Kasi nga it really isn't that bad - just don't expect too much! At least it inspired me to add something in my bucket list -the wingsuit! I think I've seen that in one of Angelina Jolie's films as well but it is only with Transformers 3 did I think of trying it myself. Parang panunuod ng Dark of the Moon lang yan, just jump in!

I have been enjoying the work of John Gray "How To Get What You Want and Want What You Have" and it has left me thinking "What is it that I really want?"
A few weeks back, Jem bought a laptop. As always, I was more excited with the purchase than how my friend was. In a few days, I was curious and had to ask -Does it keep you awake? As this is how I am with my new gadgets. To my disappointment, her answer is NO - with the explanation that she needs to have the right application installed before she can start poring her thoughts into it. Then a week later, I had a little chat with yet another friend (Josh) who, for a while now, has been keeping an online blog that has captured a number of curious followers. These remind me that I, too, am in love with words. Thus, the birth of this blog...
With this I hope to capture all that I love. And hopefully, it include you.
